Letter From the CEO

“These days, if you are not partnering, you are not developing” John Fisher, Inland Group (Together Center’s lead campus redevelopment and affordable housing partner)

Dear Together Center Community,

Together Center was born of partnership and collaboration when our founders came together to create the first co-located human services hub in the nation.

Now, thirty years later, we hold the vision, innovation and risk-taking of our nonprofit founders in our minds and hearts as we leverage Together Center’s land to dramatically expand impact with an unprecedented model and campus redevelopment – building an expanded, more robust human services hub and 280 units of affordable housing together on the same transit-adjacent site. Together Center’s ambitious campus transformation is only possible thanks to the power of partnerships. In addition to long-time collaborations with our 20+ human-service provider partners, we have partnered with affordable housing developers, Inland Group and Horizon Housing Alliance, who not only create affordable housing, but also own and operate the housing they build. As our name indicates, we believe the only way to tackle big and complex social issues such as affordable housing and health equity is together.

In this newsletter you will read a bit more about how we are increasingly being asked to present and share what it has taken to forge these dynamic, cross-sector partnerships. Advancing a campus redevelopment of this size and scale requires intentional partnership that is not always easy but nearly always delivers exponentially better outcomes and greater impact.

Please join me in welcoming our new Community Coordinator, Marisa Flores, as well as our newest Together Center Board Director, Angie Hinojos, who co-founded Centro Cultural Mexicano in Redmond. You can read more about them in this newsletter and we are thrilled to have them both on the Together Center team!

Onward together,
Kim Sarnecki, CEO
